Wine, new king of the aperitif

At the time of the aperitif, the French are more and more often prone to opt for a glass of wine(1). White or rosé wine preferably. Red wine on its side is more associated with the seated meal. But it adds to the experience of the aperitif dinner with friends, where one traditionally opens a good bottle of wine over a plate of cheese or charcuterie.

This rise in wine as an aperitif is largely driven by the younger generations and by women.
